DWG to DXF Converter (DWG to DXF) is a batch DWG and DXF bi-directional converter that allows you to convert DWG to DXF, DXF to DWG without the need of AutoCAD.
Pros: The application can convert DWG format drawings to DXF or vice versa. It can take a batch of drawings and convert them from one format to the other. There is no need for AutoCAD to be available on the machine. It can also do version conversion, meaning that it can help change drawings done in one version of the AutoCAD to another. As you must be aware AutoCAD has had several release versions where the drawing formats change somewhat. It supports every version of DWG/DXF files. Releases R2.5/2.6, R9, R10, R12, R13, R14, R2000/2002, R2004/2005, 2007, 2008, 2009 formats are supported. The interface is simple. It has the buttons that help add and delete files for conversion. Edit/delete helps create the batch list. Options of what format the drawings are to be converted, what version too can be specified. One then specifies the output file name and a destination folder. A single click thereafter gets the process completed. There’s a Pro version that has a command line interface.
Cons: With support for so many formats implemented it is always possible to have problems, particularly subtle ones. One would need to get feedback on specific versions one is likely to use from actual users, if possible.
Overall: Nice and easy to use the application fulfills a genuine need. This is good for a 4 star rating easily.
